On-Farm Grant Support
“Iʼm considering an equipment upgrade, but I have no idea if there is a grant that can help me fund this. On top of that, I donʼt have the time to put together whatever complicated application the grant requires.ˮ
Does this sound like you?
If youʼve been considering an on-farm project or investment and are interested in additional financial support from grants, weʼre excited to announce a new program with Lasso.
The Dairy Alliance is offering free grant-writing support for on-farm projects through an exciting new pilot with Lasso. Lasso will identify, apply for and manage grant funding opportunities for you. Reach out to molly@joinlasso.com or (312) 833-7726 for more information.
The goal of this program is to increase our membersʼ awareness and access to public funding opportunities for on-farm projects.
If selected for this pilot, you will receive the grant consulting and writing services for free.
Who is Lasso?
The Lasso team will be your grant-writer-in-a-box: for your farm and project of interest, they will identify, apply for, and manage grant opportunities on your behalf.
Their team has helped customers like you receive >70 grants with a 90% success rate, representing millions of dollars to support on-farm projects. You can find more information here.
What are the Benefits to Me?
By participating in this pilot, you can access more funding with minimal time investment. Lasso will:
Identify opportunities across federal, regional, state, and local grants that could support you and your upcoming projects
Receive funding without the headache and time-consuming paperwork of putting an application together
Make sure all participants complete their requirements, both before submitting the application and after receiving the award
What Grant Opportunities are Available?
These grants range from federal grants like the Value-Added Producers Grant (VAPG) to state-specific opportunities like Southeast Dairy Business
Innovation Initiative. These grants will help you cover the costs for projects like:
On-farm post-harvest handling, aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storing, distribution, and sale of locally and regionally produced food products
Farm infrastructure improvements and equipment upgrades (e.g., labor-saving technology, precision technology, etc.)
Renewable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind, anaerobic digester)
Energy efficiency improvements (e.g., grain dryer upgrades, replacing diesel generators with solar, lighting, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and cooling)
How Do I Work with Lasso?
Typical steps of working with Lasso:
They talk to you to get context on your farm and proposed project to understand your operations and needs.
They share all eligible funding from federal, state, regional, and local sources - they go through the long list of requirements to make sure you are not only eligible but competitive.
They put together the application from start to finish. Theyʼll manage all stakeholders, inputs needed, and narratives to create a high-quality application.
Once you get the award, theyʼll make sure all your iʼs are dotted and tʼs are crossed to help you get reimbursed as soon as possible.
To participate in this pilot, you should:
Be open to government grants
Have a project in mind with potential installers/vendors/service providers identified
Be open to appearing as a case study for The Dairy Alliance
Note: Only high-level information would be included (e.g., context, project type, result, and benefit from grant funding)
